The purpose of the Altar Guild is:

  • to care for the altar and its furnishings and linens, and to prepare it for each service;
  • to care for all the items in the church and chapel that support our worship;
  • to care for the vestments (robes) of all those who lead worship;
  • to perform any other necessary duties in accordance with the pastor’s wishes.

This essential liturgical role can be traced all the way back to the clans within the Levite tribe of Israel, charged with caring for the Ark of the Lord, its tabernacle, and all its furnishings.

New members for St. Mary’s Altar Guild are always being sought.  We hope that many parishioners will prayerfully consider joining this essential ministry. If interested, contact the parish office or speak with Linda Rush at (951) 652-7020.
